Bawumia failed Ghanaians with Gold-For-Oil, don’t trust him- Solomon Owusu

Dr. Solomon Owusu, a mineral economist, urged Ghanaians to ignore Bawumia because he failed with the gold-for-oil initiative

A Ghanaian Mineral Economics Consultant based in the United States of America, Dr Solomon Owusu has launched a scathing attack on Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. He described the much-touted Gold-For-Oil Initiative as senseless.

Speaking to this portal, Dr. Solomon Owusu blasted the vice president, Dr. Bawumia for defending the policy even when he was cautioned about it. He said the policy has now become a hoax.

His comments come on the backdrop of a pronouncement made by the NPP’s Communications Director Richard Ahiagbah that Dr. Bawumia will use the country’s gold to back the cedi to make it stable. Dr. Owusu said that is a scam and should not be thought of in the first place.

He wondered why the Gold-For-Oil initiative could not stabilize the cedi and reduce fuel prices if indeed it is something that can change the dynamics as claimed by Dr. Bawumia.

“What happened to the Gold-for-Oil initiative? Couldn’t it stabilize the cedi and reduce fuel prices as promised by Bawumia?

“I said it on different platforms, radio interviews and personal conversations that the gold-for-oil deal was useless and senseless,” he stated.

He alleged that Dr. Bawumia didn’t think through and apply wisdom to the implementation of  the ridiculous policy.

“How can Bawumia convince Ghanaians that he will use the gold again to stabilize the cedi if we vote for him to become the President? As the current head of [the] Economic Management Team of this government, what is preventing him from stabilizing the cedi with gold now but waiting till 2025?” he wondered.

Adding, “What is preventing Bawumia from applying his so-called knowledge and experience in economics to stabilize the cedi and address the economic challenges that the country is facing?”

He admonished Ghanaians to reject Dr Bawumia because he can’t continue to scam Ghanaians with sweet talks and lies anymore.
