Bawumia can’t be blamed for Ghana’s economic crisis – Sekondi MP

Member of Parliament for the Sekondi Constituency and Deputy Energy Minister, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, has asked Ghanaians not to blame Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the country’s economic woes.

According to him, economies all over the world have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, and Ghana is no exception.

He added that it is completely unfair to place the blame for the country’s economic hardship on the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as some critics have done.

Egyapa Mercer claims that other countries struggling to revive their economies have not laid the blame on bad leadership but rather on the predicament of the deadly pandemic.

He further stated that several pressing factors have given room to the economic woes faced by those countries.

“Almost every economy in this world is suffering today. Is it a result of bad leadership or bad economic management in those countries? Why do we attribute the problems in Ghana to Dr. Bawumia? Several factors have caused us to be where we are, and as a matter of fact, those ostriches can pretend to remain there,” he said on TV3.

Egyapa Mercer stressed that Dr. Mahmudu Bawumia has his own vision for Ghana, which he will well execute when voted president, adding that he’s the obvious choice to turn the fortunes of Ghana other than former President John Dramani Mahama, who has no vision for Ghana.
