Former three-time World Champion, Professor Azumah Nelson is set to return to the ring, years after he hanged his gloves. The boxing legend will take part in an exhibition bout at the Bukoum Boxing Arena next month.

As part of Europe Month, Africa’s greatest boxer of all time, Azumah Nelson will step into the ring with EU Ambassador Irchad Razaaly on May 4, 2024.  The 65-year-old will face the 47-year-old French diplomat in a special exhibition bout in aid of youth empowerment through sport.

Speaking at the launch of Europe Month, Irchad Razaaly said the annual meeting brings together the ambassadors of EU member states accredited to Ghana. Representatives of the various Government partners working in the country also attend the event. He said this year’s celebration will feature events focusing on Youth and Skills Development in Ghana.

“This event will showcase the boxing talent of young athletes in Bukom while promoting youth empowerment through sports,” he said.

Dubbed “DIPLO RUMBLE”, the exhibition will feature talented young boxers in Ghana.
