Audit Service confirms Kelvin Taylor’s exposé on missing $10billion at GCB

The Ghana Audit Services department has reacted to the expose’ made by Ghanaian US-based investigative journalist Kelvin Taylor.

Kelvin Taylor unearthed a whopping amount of $10 billion missing from Ghana Commercial Bank. He revealed these monies has been transferred from Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) to unknown sources.

However, a statement signed by the deputy auditor on behalf of the auditor general has indicated that they have taken note of the missing money.

According to the statement, the $10 Billion missing audits in reference was an exercise sanctioned by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta in a letter dated August 15, 2020, based on the mandate of the president.

It indicated that the letter in circulation on social media on the said matter forms part of the letters sent to commercial banks that participated in the transfers.

It added that the Audit Service intends to surcharge any bank which defaulted in the tax receipts collected. And that has managed to trace with satisfaction, some of the transfers.

Subsequently, Kelvin Taylor has stated he will address the said document in time.
