According to the residents, after the last demonstration which led to the arrest of some residents, their roads were graded but have since been left without any explanation.
This they said has been going on for so many years to deceive them adding that they will not allow the government to deceive them again hence their move to stage another demonstration to ensure that they also have their fair share of the national cake by having their roads asphalted.
According to them, they will continue to put pressure on the government until their bad roads in the communities are fix.
It will be recalled that some residents of Ablekuma, Manhea and its environs embarked on a demonstration to expressed their dissatisfaction over the bad state of their roads of which they blocked the main roads and burnt car tyres in the middle of the road over the bad nature of their roads.
According to the angry residents, they are not prepared to tolerate any grading of the roads due to what they have experienced during the past administration where the government deceived them by grading it and leaving it at that in response to their demands to have the roads fixed.
The residents stated that they do not want the roads to be graded but asphalted adding that anytime they go on a demonstration, the government only come to grade the road and leave them to their fate.
However, this reporter in an interview with the Manhea Zongo Chief who doubles as the Public Relations Officer for Ga West and North Council of Zango Chiefs, Sarki Abdul-Kadiri Ahmed Kadiri, noted that he is aware of the bad nature of the roads as well as the forthcoming demonstration.
According to him, many efforts by him and the residents to call on the government’s attention to fix their roads yielded no results.
He, however, called on the residents to follow the proper way to register their displeasure by obtaining a permit from the police and protection adding that they the Chiefs and opinion leaders in the municipality will support and ensure that the demonstration will be peaceful.
He appealed to the government to heed to the cry of the communities to ensure that the aforementioned roads are asphalted in due course.
The residents he said are tired of promises and this time around they will not allow themselves to be deceived by the government for just grading the roads without asphalt.
