Arrest Bryan Acheampong to show you are unbiased – CFF to Police

Richard Kasu

The Community Focus Foundation Ghana (CFF-Ghana) has called on the Ghana Police Service to arrest the minister of Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong over his alleged treasonable comments.

The Foundation believes the police arresting the Abetifi MP will prove the state institution is unbiased and operates independently.

In a release signed by the foundation’s Executive Director, Richard Kasu, during a campaign rally recently held on August 10, 2024 the law maker said “before I end my speech, I want to reiterate that whether NDC likes it or not, they will never win the 2024 elections. They won’t win. Whichever means we will use to win the 2024 elections, we will use it.”

These amongst other is what they consider “inciting statements treasonable and condemns same in no uncertain terms”.

The foundation called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. Akuffo Dampare to act beyond his pledge to arrest all miscreants during the 2024 election.

CFF buttresses their stance by indicating the Minister’s previous blood shedding incident at Ayawaso West Wuogon. “In fact, Bryan Acheampong’s blood letting role played during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election resulting in the maiming of innocent Ghanaians and his reckless violence inciting statements in recent times clearly shows his resolve to assault Ghana’s democracy” portion of their release read.

Ghana Police must arrest Bryan Acheampong for his treasonable comments to prove its critics wrong

1. The Community Focus Foundation Ghana (CFF-Ghana) has taken note of dangerous and reckless statements being made by Bryan Acheampong, MP for Abetifi and Minister for Food and Agriculture, to the effect that the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) shall never hand-over power to the winner of the upcoming elections.

2. Firstly, the Minister is on record to have assured his party supporters during a rally to climax a health walk organised by the New Patriotic Party at Kwahu in the Eastern Region on Saturday, April 8th, 2023, of the determination of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia NPP government to hold on to power come what may.

3. Secondly, Bryan is also alleged to have said during a campaign rally recently held on August 10, 2024 that “before I end my speech, I want to reiterate that whether NDC likes it or not, they will never win the 2024 elections. They won’t win. Whichever means we will use to win the 2024 elections, we will use it”

4. We consider the above violence inciting statements treasonable and condemns same in no uncertain terms.

5. In fact, Bryan Acheampong’s blood letting role played during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election resulting in the maiming of innocent Ghanaians and his reckless violence inciting statements in recent times clearly shows his resolve to assault Ghana’s democracy.

6. While at it, we consider the silence of the Ghana Police in the midst of these developments very unfortunate.

7. To us, the mere warning of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. Akuffo Dampare of dealing with miscreants during the election is not enough without taking bold actions in arresting Bryan Acheampong to answer for his treasonable comments.
8. As such, we call on the Ghana Police Service to act with the alacrity with which it arrests citizens who commit minor offenses which are not incendiary in nature.

9. Additionally, we call on the National Peace Council and the voices of conscience to rise to the occasion and condemn selfish political actors including Bryan Acheampong who are hell bent on jeopardizing our shared peace and happiness as a people.
End.
