A group of young men and women in Sefwi enclave in the Western North Region took to the streets of Juaboso to register their displeasure over the presence of the flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama, in the zone.

According to the group, though the Sefwi zone has immensely supported the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in so many elections, the same cannot be said about their level of development.

“Sefwi can best be described as another world bank for the NDC. However, there is nothing or very little to show for the votes we give to the party”, one of the protesters said.

“The demonstration became necessary because the NDC has taken us for a ride for years. Look at Kwabena Mintah-Akandoh, whenever he goes on the radio, he creates the impression that he has developed Juaboso to the hilt. Look at our roads, very deplorable”, another protester indicated.

They emphasized, “NDC, the party the people have been voting for all these years, has neglected us. For eight years, Mahama was in power, but very little in terms of developmental projects was seen”.

That, they intimated, was the gravamen of their protests against Mahama. The former President, they make the point, sees their worth when the NDC is in opposition.

The group also seized the occasion to demand a response from Mr Mahama over his alleged involvement in the Airbus saga.

Several of their placards had messages to that effect.

Some of the placards read; “Are you Government Official 1? JM, why the long silence on the Airbus scandal? JM and corruption are identical twins, who is Intermediary 5,” among other messages.

Former President John Mahama is expected to end his three-day tour to the region dubbed “Speakout”.
