Amlade Clan of Anloga installs a new Chief, Torgbe Tudoabor III after 16years

The Amlade Clan of Anloga has outdoors its new Chief, Torgbe Tudoabor III on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at a colorful durbar in the Keta Municipality of Volta Region.

The Clan has been without Chief for the past 16years following the demise of Torgbe Tudoabor II in 2002.

Torgbe Tudoabor III known in his private life as Mr. Seth Renee Dotsey works with Tema Oil Refinery Credit Union as an accountant.

In his address, Torgbe has established an Educational Fund for the Amlade Clan to help empower the youth in the areas of education and skill-based training.

He used the opportunity to appeal to corporate Ghana and prominent members in the clan to support the fund.

The Clan

Every Anlo male and female is said to belong to one of 15 clans known as ‘hlɔwo’ and each clan or ‘hlɔ’ is identified by a number of paternal line called ‘tɔ-ƒome’
The 15 clans are Laƒe, Amlade, Adzovia, Bate, Like, Bamee, Tovi, Klevi, Ɣetsofe, Agave, Tsiame, Amɛ, Dzevi, Ʋifeme and Blu.

Membership of a clan carries many distinguishing characteristics in the form of names, food taboos, clan totem which is associated with stories about its origins or their founding ancestors.

Anloga is a town in Keta Municipality of the Volta Region in southeast Ghana. It lies east of the Volta River and just south of the Keta Lagoon.
