Ambulance Case: Godfred Dame will not resign – NPP rubbishes NDC calls

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has emphatically stated that the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Dame will not resign despite calls from a large number of Ghanaians for him to step down.

This follows the publication of audio recordings and WhatsApp conversations between Godfred Dame and Richard Jakpa. In the published material, Godfred Dame was seen trying to use the latter to implicate former Deputy Finance Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson.

Addressing the media after the NDC’s press conference that aired the recording between Godfred Dame and Richard Jakpa, Frank Davies, the NPP Legal Committee Chairman debated the tape’s authenticity, stating it has been doctored. He did not provide the original tape to counter-substantiate the truth.

Frank Davies said it is a ploy by the NDC to smear the minister’s integrity and halt the prosecution of the Minority Leader, Cassiel Ato Forson. He added that the A-G is resolute and focused on his work.

“We are clear in our minds that the calls for the resignation of the Attorney General is misplaced, unwarranted and this would not put any spokes in the prosecution of Cassiel Ato Forson and his associates,” the lawyer said.

“Also, coming from the NDC the call for the Attorney General to resign is very rich. The A-G would not resign and would continue to remain witty, resolute and focused in the delivery of his work,” Frank Davies announced.
