Amadu Sulley, Opoku Amankuah still keeping EC cars and properties

Amadu Suley (L) and Georgina Amankwah were removed from office after they were found culpable of breaching regulations

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he two sacked Deputy Electoral Commissioners, Mr. Amadu Sulley, and Georgina Opoku Amankwah are yet to return their official vehicles and properties allocated to them by the government. This is according to some EC staff who spoke to Awake News on condition of anonymity.

According to them, they do not understand why the Daily Guide reporter will single out Mrs. Challotte Osei with false claims that she (Mrs. Osei) has allegedly refused to return the Toyota Landcruiser that was given to her, when the evidence shows that she was rather the one who returned the saloon car and all other properties belong to the EC to the Director of Administration.

“I don’t really know what these people want Madam to do to them again. It’s just too sad” – She said

“Why is the case of the two deputies not returning their cars to the Commission not worthy a news for Daily Guide?” – She quizzed

Awake News’ investigations have revealed that the said Toyota Landcruiser V8 has been made available for pick up for more than two weeks ago and the former EC Boss’ driver has been waiting for a call from whosoever was supposed to arrange for its pick up. Efforts to get the car delivered to the EC has proved futile. It is therefore contrary to the evidence that the former EC Boss has refused to return the car.

Interestingly, Daily Guide has also reported that the said car has been customized. Awake News’ investigations have revealed that the said car has never been changed or customized let alone being a request by Mrs. Osei.

According to sources at the EC Head Office, Daily Guide’s claim that the vehicle was customized for Mrs. Osei, can only be borne out of pure malice, mischief and totally false.

As our cherished readers would recall, the said vehicle was one of the allegations made against Mrs. Osei in the petition filed by some EC staff which was dismissed by the Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo as having no merit.

It can be noted that Daily Guide, since the inception of the confusing at the EC consistently attacked Mrs. Challotte Osei with many false publications and sensational headlines, possibly driven by the desire for newspaper sales.

According to the petitioner in the case of the two Deputy Chairs of the EC, Mr. Korsi Senyo, “Daily Guide continues to act as the official PR outfit of ruling government and the CJ’s office on any issues related to the case at the Electoral Commission, as it consistently published first-hand information about the progress of the case even before parties to the case are informed”

This according to him prompted him to officially write a protest letter to the Justice Benin Committee which investigated the petitions against the EC Bosses. This was after the Daily Guide had published word-for-word contents of the Committee’s hearing which was supposed to be in camera, but the Committee failed to call the newspaper’s Editor to order.
