Allowance is causing more harm than good – teacher trainees

Most students of the various colleges of education across the country are complaining of not getting the allowance as claimed by the government.

According to  Wallaz, a third year student, he had not received the allowance which started in October last year till now.

“This allowance issue is getting out of hand. The school claimed we have problems with our e-zwitch cards. But my Asubontin card which I used to register is active and those who have their problems solved are still not receiving the money. The government claims he’s paying our allowance but not all are receiving it. I hope the government should come out clear on this matter.

“As I speak, the school is saying we should register with only GCB e-zwitch card. For how long this payment will come, only God knows “.  Wallaz emphasised.

To add sore to injury, most students who started receiving the allowance since October are now claiming that upon receiving their allowance messages in December 2017, went to the bank only to realize that the is no funds on their cards to be loaded.

Prosper also a third-year student explains the situation as worrying and established that allowance has made parents not to support their children especially those on out program with provisions for their upkeep.

” My parents don’t give me anything or support again because of this allowance. They are only saying I am taking allowance. I received the message on December 18, 2017. I was at the bank on Monday only to find out that there is no funds to be loaded.  Not only  me but colleagues from other colleges also got the same problem. We all have been taking this money from October  but only this time things changed. “

The current government has fulfilled its campaign promise of restoring Nurses and Teacher trainee allowances since last year October and has since been facing several controversies.
