Alavanyo Killings: “DCOP Francis Doku is a bloody liar” – Efo Worlanyo fires

Efo Worlanyo Tsekpo, B/A NDC Youth Organizer

The Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Efo Worlanyo Tsekpo has jumped to the defences of natives describing the Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Francis Doku’s accounts of the incident leading to the killing of 3 in Alavanyo-Dzogbadze and Kpeme as a “bloody lies”.

According to the outspoken youth organizer and a native of Alavanyo Kpeme in a statement copied Awake News said; “Francis Doku, a whole Regional Commander lied in an interview with the multimedia group that people were shooting from the mountain in Alavanyo- Dzogbezde that was why they also shot and killed the innocent people on the street while the truth is that there is no mountain in Dzogbezde”

“One can’t just understand the meaningless statement from the Commander, because the first two people who were shot, were shot and killed on the street of Alavanyo Dzogbezde by the security taskforce and not on any mountain top as claimed by Francis Doku.”

Recounting the recent clam at Alavanyo before this incident, Efo Worlanyo said “For a year now, Alavanyo and Nkonya have been living in peace without any issue been reported until the deliberate killing of three people by the security forces who rather have the responsibility to protect us”.

“Does it mean the securities can be blamed for most of the killings that has made Alavanyo and Nkonya a ghost town today?” – He quizzed

“All we asking the security service is to come out to tell the people of Ghana the truth about what actually happened in Alavanyo-Dzogbedze that led to the killing of the two people and stop tarnishing the image of the people of Alavanyo and those the military killed with state guns” – He added

Background:

Three days ago, Alavanyo community has returned to unease calm following two accounts of an incident that led to the shooting and killing of two young men with 6 others sustaining various degrees of injury.

According to some citizens and an eyewitness who spoke to Awake News on one account said at about 11:00am on Sunday, January 13, 2019, Police had embarked on an operation to destroy a wee farm at Dzogbadze at Alavanyo. The Police during the operation in the morning arrested two young men but on the way, the two arrested young men were able to Jump from the police van and escaped with their handcuffs.

Soon after, a Joint Police-Military then returned to the town in the evening around 4pm where they went to the Chief, Torgbe Petekuatsi V of the town to report on how two people in his town escaped with their handcuffs during an arrest. They also complained of their missing AK47 rifle.

Upon receiving the report from the security officers, the chief is said to have queried the officers as to why they made the operation in the town without any alerts. He, however, summoned everyone in the town on the missing handcuffs upon which someone showed up at the chief palace to present the missing handcuffs.

According to the eyewitness, whiles, the police-military were leaving the town, some of the youth started “hooting” at the security officers.

“All of a sudden the police started shooting”

“the police killed two young men and injured about 8 eight people who are currently at the Margaret Maquat Catholic Hospital at Kpando”

“The deceased (two) are still lying on the street where they were shot”

The citizens account however has been refuted by the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Francis Doku in an interview on Joy New and Joy FM saying his men “were caught up in a crossfire” with some unknown assailants when they had embarked on an operation after they got wind that some persons were hoarding ammunition in the town of Dzogbadze.

“Knowing the area to be conflict-prone, the local SWAT organized themselves and moved in to search for the arms about 3: 00 pm on Sunday,” the police commander said.

According to the Commander, it appears “the assailants might have gotten wind of the police operation because as the SWAT team entered the town, they were attacked by some youth who successfully wrestled an AK-47 rifle from the outnumbered police” and the police team retreated with fire.

Mr. Doku said the then police informed the military in the area who decided to retrieve the AK-47 rifle.

The military went to the traditional ruler in Alavanyo Dzogbedze to inform him about their intended operation with the hope that he will prevail on his subjects to surrender the arms.

“The chief promised the military that he will personally bring the rifle to the barracks at 10: 00 am on Monday,” DCOP narrated.

But as the soldiers departed from the chief, they were attacked by the assailants who fired shots at them.

As the soldiers shot back at the attackers, two residents suspected to be unrelated to the attacks were caught up in the crossfire and have been reported dead.

Six others are injured and are on admission at the Margret Marquart Catholic Hospital in Kpando.

DCOP Doku said the police are preparing to go for the bodies of the two dead persons.

He added that an emergency Regional Security (RECSEC) meeting will be organized to the town to help in investigations.

Efo Worlanyo’s full statement

Tears are flowing once again in Alavanyo, my motherland because the securities who were sent there for peacekeeping have decided to turn their guns on us.

Today the deliberate negligence of the securities in Alavanyo have rendered about 11 children fatherless.

For a year now, Alavanyo and Nkonya have been living in peace without any issue been reported until the deliberate killing of three people by the security forces who rather have the responsibility to protect us. Does it mean the securities can be blamed for most of the killings that has made Alavanyo and Nkonya a ghost town today?

God actually exposed the reason behind the transfer of Francis Doku to our Region and if care is not taken his actions will plunk the Region into what we don’t wish for.

Three people were shot dead in Alavanyo by military personnel who were sent there for peacekeeping and all the “Ponzi” Regional Police Commander could say is the people shot themselves, and in another account, he was heard saying there was a crossfire exchange between the military and the people of Alavanyo.

Why is the commander afraid to tell the whole world about the fact of the killing of the three innocent people by the military?

Who is the commander trying to protect per the directive he to took from the top after the midnight meeting that was held at his residence concerning the deliberate killing by the military?

Why does he want to push his agenda of making Volta Region look bad in the sight of the world?

We know his marriage with this current government and his political assignment he was sent there to achieve in the Region.

Today civilians are been shot every day by the securities who are paid with our taxes. They now turn the guns bought by the state from the taxes on us.

After shooting us they sit and plan mouth watering criminal charges against us to make us look bad, all because they are in charge of security and people listen to them more than our tiny voice.

It happened in Asawase, it happened in Weija, it happened at the North, it happened in Accra and it happens in Alavanyo.

The outcome of the Asawase killings is a piece of classical evidence on how our securities who are to protect us decided to turn the guns on us and later describe us as criminals.

Francis DOKU should bear in mind that his lies today will be exposed tomorrow.

He should not forget those who are dead have families, and the tears of their children and relatives will never make him have peace until he tells the whole world the facts of the killings.

He should know that their meeting to defend and clear the military on this serious matter by denying justice to those killed will be a heavy load on his neck until he tells the whole world about the truth.

The cry of their families will be the cry of Francis DOKU and his family.

Francis DOKU should know that the power he has today will rust tomorrow so he should be careful with his hypocritical and one-sided reports in the Region.

He should know that his decision that Alavanyo has a History, so tagging them of killing themselves will sell much more than telling the world the truth is out there on the street.

All we asking the security service is to come out to tell the people of Ghana the truth about what actually happened in Alavanyo-Dzogbedze that led to the killing of the two people and stop tarnishing the image of the people of Alavanyo and those the military killed with state guns.

Francis Doku, a whole Regional Commander lied in an interview with the multimedia group that people were shooting from the mountain in Alavanyo- Dzogbezde that was why they also shot and killed the innocent people on the street while the truth is that there is no mountain in Dzogbezde so which mountain is Francis Doku talking about?

One can’t just understand the meaningless statement from the Commander, because the first two people who were shot, were shot and killed on the street of Alavanyo Dzogbezde by the security taskforce and not on any mountain top as claimed by Francis Doku.

Francis Doku should for once be professional and let the cat out of the bag.
Justice is all we want.
