Akufo-Addo to deliver 22nd address tonight on measures to fight COVID-19

The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will address the nation tonight on measures his administration is taking to manage the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

This will be the 22nd time he will be providing updates on the government’s enhanced responsive measures against the outbreak after assuming office for a second term.

The address is scheduled for Sunday, January 17, 2020 at 8:00 pm on all major media networks across the country.

In the President’s last update, he announced the reopening of schools at all levels after almost a year of closure due to the pandemic.

The address also comes at a time when major concerns have been raised about the rise in number of infections which has been imputed to negligence in adherence to safety protocols among the citizenry.

As at Sunday, January 17, 2021, it reported on the Ghana Health website that 56,981 cases have been recorded with 55,236 recoveries, 1404 active cases with 175 new cases, and 341 deaths.
