A renowned lecturer at the University of Ghana Political Science Department, Professor Ransford Gyampo, has disclosed that the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia-led administration is “super incompetent” compared to John Mahama’s reign.
Prof. Gyampo stated that for the first time in Ghana, people have mixed feelings about whether to keep their money in the banks or in their bedrooms because of a loss of confidence in the banking system.
In his view, the lack of confidence in the banking system shows how obnoxious Akufo-Addo’s government has mismanaged the economy.
“The standards are high; we should subject our politicians to strict proof. This regime is more incompetent than the Mahama administration. People do not know whether to keep their money in the banks or in their homes,” he said on the Key Points on TV3 on Saturday, November 11, when responding to questions on the election of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the flagbearer of the New Pattioc Party (NPP).
Prof. Gyamp reiterated that Dr. Bawumia will find it extremely cumbersome to convince Ghanaians that the economy is better than during the era of the NDC under John Mahama.
“I am not saying breaking the 8 can’t be done, but it is difficult. Dr. Bawumai must also be touting his track record in a manner that sounds convincing to Ghanaians.”
Dr. Bawumia, in his speech, adding to the nation after his victory, urged the youth of Ghana to rally behind him as he is on the campaign to break the 8-year jinx come 2024 to implement his own vision for Ghana.
“I have my own vision and priorities,” he said, adding that “I will listen to your concerns because we are partners in its process.”
