Some Executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Akatsi North Constituency of the Volta Region are allegedly hatching plans to oust the District Chief Executive of Akatsi North, Hon. Dr. Prince Sodoke Amuzu.
The executives in a two page letter, have petitioned the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, to remove the DCE from office with an immediate effect saying the DCE, since assuming office has been non-cooperative and unwilling to work with them.
The petitioners also claimed the DCE has gone into bed with members [ads1]of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and supported Hon. Patrick Ahiabu, an assembly member believed to be a member of the NDC in the recent election of Presiding members against one of their own, Mr. Paul Ayirah (NPP), a move they say is making the party unpopular in the area.
In the two page petition, the petitioners added that, the DCE has been awarding contracts to one Mr. Timothy Nortsu-Kotoe, a brother to Hon. Peter Nortsu Kotoe (MP) to the disadvantage of the NPP members, among other pertinent allegations.
Information picked by Awake News’ Abdul-Iddrisu Faisel indicates that, the Ave Traditional Council of Chiefs and the Ave Development Union (AVEDU) are preparing a counter petition to the presidency over the issue.
Meanwhile, Mr. Dokli Mensah, a personal assistant to the DCE, indicated that the DCE is aware of what he called “framed accusations’ and he (DCE) will make an official statement on the issue in due time. As to whether the Presidency has notified the DCE, he could not ascertain that.
However, one of the petitioners Hon. Godfred Kudalor, an assembly member and the Constituency Organizer, confirmed that they wrote the petition and have also served the DCE with a copy.
A member of the Assembly, who spoke on anonymity revealed that, prior to this petition, the petitioners have written several piece in an attempt to cause the dismissal of the DCE – a move he described as worrying and detrimental to the development of the district.
He also added that, their move is more likely to collapse the party at the constituency level as many party faithfuls are feeling disgruntled over the incidents.
The under-listed are some signatories to the petition.
Mr. Salansa Doe -Constituency Chairman
Hon. Root Godfred Kudalor -Constituency Organiser
Mr. Alhassan Anteru -Nasara Coordinator
Mr. Paul Ayirah
