The Akatsi North district assembly held a ceremony on Tuesday 26th December, 2017, to pre-launch a crocodile resort project in the district capital, Ave-Dakpa.
The project touted to be one of the most creative initiatives undertaken by the assembly since it’s creation would go a long way to support the assembly’s internal revenue.
Residents of the area remarked that it is their joy that the assembly has decided to build an ecotourism site within the district.
They added that they have been living with crocodiles as friendly as any domestic animal for decades now, so, therefore, it is a dream come through for them.
The District Chief Executive, Dr. Prince Sodoke Amuzu, in his address said ” Today we need to celebrate as a people and think of other ways for the rapid development of our beloved Akatsi North District.
Hon. Minister, it’s a bare fact that, Akatsi North District is a debt-ridden district but well endowed with rich natural resources. These natural resources if well exploited can change our destiny from debt-ridden to riches”.
The DCE added that, the project is not an NPP or NDC project, but a project by the people of the district and for the people of the Akatsi North district.
In attendance were, the Regional minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa, Hon. James Gunu, former DCE for Akatsi North, Assembly members, Chiefs and party executives.
