The Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Asutifi North Constituency, Ahafo Region, Mr. Ebenezer Addo, has taken measures to end the perennial flooding situation at the Ntotroso Zongo which has been a major threat to the residents for years.
According to him, the step taken to end the menace is necessary and on the right time due to the many challenges the residents within the said jurisdiction encounter during the raining season where all activities pulse.
Speaking to him exclusively, there are two stages to be performed to end the flooding namely dredging which is underway and the mounting of a befitting bridge for the people to use it all the time. He explained that the dredging machine has been hired to remove the quant of sand and other forms of materials in the River Ntotro which are not allowing the smooth flow of the water as expected. He said per his observation during the dredging exercise he reliased that aside sand, refuse has been a major contributing factor not allowing the river to flow.

He further said after the dredging is done successfully, a befitting bridge will be mounted to permit the residents to easily access it. To him, a good job will be done for the people not to encounter the flooding again irrespective of the volume the river produces during the rainy season.
Mr Addo assured the people that work will be completed and ready to be used before the rains begin so all must be rest assured. He added that strong supervision to make the project unique and money worthy is also part of him team.
He revealed that per a little rainfall in the area most houses become flooded and properties worth thousands of cedis are damaged, residents are unable to access their farms and other businesses, school-going children cannot attend schools as expected, residents without latrines at homes cannot cross the river to access the public one which is located at the other side and pupils trekking on long-distance before going to school which is always danger due to heavy-load trucks apply the major road.
He admitted that the menace has been there for years giving the residents all kinds of challenges due to lack of funds to be used by the people they expect to elevate them from it. Mr. Addo added that he needed to speak with some people to assist him to execute the project.
The residents who could not control their excitement recounted the challenges faced whenever it rains in the area just like what the PC said, thanked him for responding to their call in less than two weeks. According to them they paid him a visit at his residence to wish him happy Christmas with their request and behold it has been achieved. To them their major challenge is tackled.
Before the commencement of the whole exercise on last Tuesday, the chiefs of Ntotroso came to the scene to poor libation to asked the ancestors to help make the exercise a fruitful one.
