Ghana’s celebrated human rights Lawyer, Mr. Francis-Xavier Sosu has been barred by the General Legal Council (GLC) for practicing law for four years on two counts of overcharging a client and advertising on social media.
On the count of the overcharging a client, of which the GLC’s Nine Member Committee chaired by Justice Sophia Akuffo (incoming Chief Justice of Ghana) found the young and fast rising lawyer guilty, it has emerged that Lawyer Sosu and his firm F-X Law & Associates entered into a contractual agreement with Mr. Francis Agyare – the client.
In that agreement, Mr. Francis Agyare who was wrongfully jailed without trail for 40-years and served 14-years after before he was released under the Justice for All Programme has agreed to pay F-X Law & Associates 25% of any total amount compensation which will be awarded him (the client) should the case be won.
Again, it was agreed that, F-X Law & Associates takes care of all legal fees and the clients up-keep from the day of the agreement till judgement is passed.
