Communication team member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Edward Mortey has labelled President Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the biggest scam to ever slug Ghana.
According to him, the Akufo-Addo led government are not being equitable with the just commenced Agenda 111 hospital projects.
The President as part of measures to mitigate the effect of the health crises caused by Covid-19, promised to build 88 district hospitals last year but broke grounds for the commencement of the project on Tuesday, August 17, at Trede in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region.
In an interview on Awake Fm to address the matter, Mr. Mortey asserted, the President lagged to deliver his Agenda 88 hospitals promises, hence returning with the promises of putting up 101 hospitals in 18 months is a fallacy which must not be accepted by Ghanaians.
“On the issue of this Agenda 111 Hospitals Project, first of all I just want to tell Ghanaians who are listening and watching us this evening that, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the NPP, have become the biggest scam ever to hit Ghana,”.
Adding, “I’m making this commentary based on the fact that Akufo-Addo and the NPP, told Ghanaians that in 18 months they were going to change the destiny of Ghana”.
Mr Mortey reiterated that, “This same person said they were going to build 350 schools for the good people of Ghana and for students for that matter. “The same person said they were going to give us the sky train, till date we haven’t seen anything”.
“Somebody who has promised you he wants to build 88 district hospitals and now comes back and has not been able to build one, and has come back to tell you that he is going to do Agenda 111. How? How do you even take this?”, He quizzed.
The NDC Communicator demands that in the midst of all the failed promises, the Akufo-Addo government must come out of the closet on the source of funding for the project.
He emphasized that government must be fair and square on how much each hospital will cost under the Agenda 111 hospitals project.
The objectives of project, is to ensure that Ghanaians in every district and region in the country have access to quality health services.
So far, sites have been identified for 88 of the 111 hospitals.
