BACKGROUND TO THE PROJECT

As part of our launching campaign, AER Services is rolling out one of its numerous concepts dubbed NATIONAL SUPER READER COMPETITION. In the United Kingdom, the Government wants every child to leave school with a lifelong love of reading and the necessary literacy skills to succeed in life. Once a child mastered the mechanics of reading, building on it in a literacy-rich environment will enable them to become accomplished reader. Only then will they find it easier to read a wider range of literature for their own enjoyment. In Ghana, millions of people struggle to read and write and these literacy difficulties are limiting their opportunities.

OBJECTIVES:

Evidence shows that the regular enjoyment of reading leads to higher achievement at school. Therefore it is the goal of this competition;

TARGET

The competition is opened to all upper primary and Junior High School pupils from both private and public sector schools nationwide. Averagely between the ages of eight to fourteen.
