The National Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. George Opare Addo, has described as fake, media reports that Youth Organizers of the NDC had a secret meeting with the National Chairman, Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo plotting to for “blood shed and series of vandalism in the quest to scare away the Electoral commission from organizing the new register.”
In the statement signed by Mr. Opare Addo and copied Awake News, the publication “by the Daily Mail Africa, an NPP surrogate website, used to publish fake news and denigrate the reputation of political opponents in the country.”
“We wish to state emphatically that the story is a fabrication mischievously concocted by the portal. This is not surprising especially because the NPP’s 2016 strategy of lying and crafting fake news churned through discredited news portals is the major agenda of this failed Akufo Addo Presidency again for the 2020 election campaign season.”
He maintained that “For the records, no meeting was held between the National Chairman and the Youth Wing of the party. The fact remains that some of the youth organizers only came around to witness the presentation of PPEs by the party to the drivers union in the full glare of the public and the media. How does this pass for a secret meeting?”

Our attention has been drawn to a deceitful news story with the above headline, published by the Daily Mail Africa, an NPP surrogate website, used to publish fake news and denigrate the reputation of political opponents in the country.
We wish to state emphatically that the story is a fabrication mischievously concocted by the portal. This is not surprising especially because the NPP’s 2016 strategy of lying and crafting fake news churned through discredited news portals is the major agenda of this failed Akufo Addo Presidency again for the 2020 election campaign season.

The Youth Wing is not bothered by McManu’s led campaign team as the story put it. McManu is a spent force. He was NPP’s national Chairman when they lost power in 2008. He was also integral in the 2012 election which saw Akufo Addo lose again.

The Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress and by extension the party itself, believes in press freedom and supports the work of hardworking journalists. What we will not tolerate are works of fake news and media machinations against the party, our leadership and our members. We will continue to support all pressmen and provide credible information pertaining to our activities. We expect the media to reciprocate our goodwill by publishing accurate information.
