Information reaching Awake News indicates that there is pandemonium in Ablekuma Central Constituency of the New Patriotic Party over who should be appointed as the next Municipal Chief Executive Officer.
According to a source close to the party, the recently defeated Member of Parliament for the area Ebenezer Nii Narh Nattey has allegedly influenced a youth group in the constituency to verbally attack and defame the current MCE Mariama Karley Amui.
This move by Mr. Nattey the source revealed is to pave way for him to lobby his way to become the MCE adding that many of the party supporters have been left in a state of shock as they wondered why an MP will descend so low to lobby for such a position.
Further information from another source revealed that Hon. Ebenezer Nii Narh Nattey has not given up on his bid to return to parliament in the next parliamentary elections hence his decision to lobby for the MCE position to stay relevant in the minds of NPP delegates during the next parliamentary primaries.
The source claimed that the former MP believes he will be given another nod to lead the party in the constituency for another term.
The source revealed that the party youth who are under the influence of Hon. Narh has flooded their various social media platforms with pictures of Hon. Narh whilst lambasting Madam Amui, describing her as “madam do little”.
According to the source, there’s confusion within the group which has resulted in it being split into two. The source noted that the group was given an undisclosed sum of money by their paymaster to shared among themselves, however, a faction never received their share of the said money which has triggered confusion within the group.
The source added that the camp of Hon. Ebenezer Nii Narh Nattey has given a number of conditions to Madam Amui to comply with else they will give their support to Hon. Narh to take her position.
One of such conditions according to the source is to deny the National Democratic Congress NDC MP Hon. Abdul Latif Dan his allocation of the MPs common fund to make him unpopular. This they said will pave way for him [Mr. Narh] to have an easy walk to Parliament in 2024 should he win the NPP parliamentary primaries.
Responding to the story, Hon. Nii Narh Nattey denied all the accusations against him adding that he will not descend so low to lobby for MCE position rather he will prefer to lobby for a unit committee member.
Hon. Narh in his response revealed that there are lots of corrupt practices at the municipal assembly which need to be dealt with and not him lobbying for any position.
He accused the MCE of distributing about 400 nose masks for schools whilst there are more than 4000 schools within the municipality.
