The Ablekuma Central Constituency National Democratic Congress NDC is demanding for the arrest of the defeated Parliamentary candidate for the Constituency, Hon. Ebenezer Nii Narh Nartey and the Director of operations at the Presidency Mr. Lord Commey for unleashing their thugs on innocent constituents who had gathered at the collation centre to observe the collating process to ensure their votes count.

In a statement signed by Hon. Vivian Sallah, the Communication Director of the NDC in the Constituency revealed that, Hon. Nii Narh Nartey realizing he had lost the election made a phone call to Lord Commey who arrived at the collation center and later called some vigilante boys who were earlier seen in the constituency using the vehicle of the Municipal Assembly to terrorize the people during voting.

According to her, the presence of the vigilantes and one Kola, a civilian body guard to Lord Commey was a ploy to overturn the will of the people of Ablekuma Central adding that Kola upon seeing the resistance and massive teeming supporters of the NDC removed his pistol in a bid to shot at the newly elected Member of Parliament Hon. Abdul-Latif Dan, but due to the timely intervention of one Rashid also known as Red, an aide to the newly elected Member of Parliament, the story would have been fatal.

PRESS RELEASE

To All Media Houses

Electoral Violence by Ebenezer Nii Narh Nartey and Lord Commey at Ablekuma Central Collation Centre.

On the 7th of December 2020, the Electoral Commission held Presidential and Parliamentary Elections in the whole of Ghana. Ablekuma Central Constituency also participated in the elections.

At the end of the voting process, the ballots were transported to the Odorkor Divisional Headquarters for collation and announcement.

It was during the collation that the outgoing Member of Parliament Hon. Ebenezer Nii
Narh Nartey and Director of Operations at the Jubilee House Lord Commey decided to unleash their thugs on constituents who had gathered at the collation centre to listen to
the results.

Hon. Ebenezer Nii Narh Nartey realizing he had lost the election made a phone call to Lord Commey who arrived at the collation center and later called some vigilante boys who were earlier seen in the constituency using the vehicle of the Municipal Assembly to terrorize the people during voting.

The presence of the vigilantes and one gentleman called Kola, a civilian body guard to Lord Commey was a ploy to overturn the will of the people of Ablekuma Central in the Just ended elections, realizing the resistance from the NDC team at the collation room, Kola then removed his pistol and shot at the newly elected Member of Parliament Hon. Abdul-Latif Dan, but for the timely intervention of Rashid (Red), his aide the story would have been fatal.

The aide had to take cover for the Member of Parliament and was hit by the bullet; a Police Officer and aJournalist from Newswatchgh.com, Mr. Pius Asiedu Kwanin were also hit by the bullets from this irresponsible gentleman who had been invited by Lord Commey and Ebenezer Nii Narh Nartey to cause confusion and mayhem at the Polling centre.

Indeed, Lord Commey is alleged to be behind all the vigilante acts in Odododioodio, on this election day he managed to invite some of these thugs to Ablekuma Central to unleash violence on innocent citizens, this behaivour of Lord Commey and the outgoing Member of Parliament is very irresponsible and reprehensive, as members of government, one expected these gentlemen to show good conduct on such an occasion.

Two other supporters of the National Democratic Congress were also shot in a separate shooting incident at the premises of the collation centre. This brings the number of people hit by the stray bullet to five.

The five are; One Police Officer, a journalist by
name Pius Asiedu Kwanin, Rashid (Red), Ibrahim Abass and Arafat. Miss Doreen Ampofo another journalist from GBC radio and some of the NDC party supporters suffered some injuries in their attempt to flee from the scene.

The three (3) party members who were shot are currently receiving treatment at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, two are in critical condition and we pray that the Almighty God take them out of danger and heal them.

The Communication team of the NDC has video evidence of the shooting incidents at
the collation centre and is prepared to share it with the media and civil society.

The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo has refused to condemn the high incidence of electoral violence and the killing of innocent Ghanaian citizens by armed men perceived to be from the Ghana Armed Forces and vigilantes.

We, members of the National Democratic Congress of Ablekuma Central Constituency would like to appeal to the Media, Civil Society Organizations and all other well meaning Ghanaians to expose and condemn all the criminal activities that happened during the just ended polls. We also call on the IGP to ensure that all those who participated in these crimes against humanity be arrested and dealt with through due process.

We are by this Press release calling on the Police to also arrest and prosecute the
Member of Parliament, Ebenezer Nii Narh Nartey, Presidential Staffer Lord Commey and all the goons that were brought into the constituency to steal the elections for the NPP.

Failure of the law enforcement agencies to do so would result in a bad precedent being set in the constituency and this would haunt the constituency in future elections.

Thank You.
