Many institutions and individuals including the law making body of the country which is the Parliament and many Civil Society Organizations (C.S.Os ) including the Christian Council of Ghana had condemned the act ,describing it as gruesome ,barbaric , inhuman , cruel and many more.
[ads1]But what lessons have we learnt a year after, firstly as individuals and secondly , as a republic at large …???
Many I guess , have forgotten about this incidence . But let us always remember that 29th day of May , 2017 and continue to remind ourselves that , never again should any history of such calibre repeat itself in the life of mother Ghana.
Amidst this challenge of instant justice which us been given quite a different interpretation in the Ghanaian society , which few mechanisms should we put in place as a nation to curtail this canker ..??? .
Retrospectively Ghana have not witnessed much investment over this one year to curtail this canker as far as incidents of this calibre is concerned.
I urge the government to put few measures in place . Amongst these measures include ;
We(Ghana) need to as as a matter of fact , strengthen our internal security structure so to control this menace ,if it cannot be totally stopped .
The National Commission for Civic Education needs to step up their game in educating the citizenry on the constitution , citing their rights and responsibilities in the right direction as enshrined in the constitution of the land. This must be done at all levels of education but intensively in first ( basic ) and second cycle institutions ( precisely S.H.S ). This after a year , has not had much attention.
Local authorities most especially the assemblymen needs to be very circumspect in their utterances , dealings and sentiments on matters arising in their communities.
Cultural festivities must be blended with public sensitisation on the causes ,effects and the impacts of instant Justice on our social development as a nation .
Monuments i siuggest must be raised even if not in all regional capitals , at least on major roads leading to major towns in the country.This must be materialized by both the government and the Christian council of Ghana.
If we can put the above measures in place , then our country will be a hub of peace , foreign investment and a reputable nation without which our country will continue to suffer the evils of insecurity to this extent .
I also want to commend the government for the good work they are doing in bringing the perpetrators of this crime to book .I cannot end here devoid of encouraging the government to work tirelessly in substantiating and ascertaining the cause that led the the murder of the slain soldier.
And to my fellow Ghanaians , remember that dark Monday when the heart of Ghana suffered and bled in the hands of instant justice , and continue to press on the delete button of instant justice .
Rest in peace , Major Adams Maxwell Mahama
LONG LIVE GHANA ,
LONG LIVE THE LEGACIES OF MAJOR MAXWELL MAHAMA.
