The 2025 budget has been praised by Franklin Cudjoe, President of the Policy Think Tank Imani Africa, who has described it as a “humane budget.” Cudjoe’s positive assessment comes in response to the Finance Minister’s decision to reduce tax refunds to cover the taxes that have been eliminated.

This move, according to Cudjoe, offers a breath of fresh air to the Ghanaian people and signals hope for better economic prospects.

In a social media post, Cudjoe expressed his appreciation for the smart approach taken by the Finance Minister, stating, “Smart Finance Minister. Reducing tax refund to take care of eliminated taxes? Didn’t see that coming. A humane budget. Fresh Air.”

As part of the budget presentation, the Finance Minister also announced the removal of several taxes, including the controversial e-levy, emissions levy, and a 10% betting tax.

This decision aligns with the government’s efforts to provide relief to citizens, reduce the tax burden, and foster economic growth.
