$2.25bn Bond Sage: Finance Minister breaches the rules on the issuance – CHRAJ

Ken Ofori-Atta

The Commission on Human rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) says the Minister of Finance (MOF), Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta has breached the rules on the issuance of the 2.25billion US dollar bonds.

The Commission, however, cleared the Finance [ads1]Minister of allegations of conflict of interest in the issuance of some bonds after its [ads1]investigations of allegations made against him, Mr Yaw Brogya Genfi, the Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer of the NDC.

After five months of investigations, into the allegations, CHRAJ concluded that, “On the basis of the evidence available to the Commission, it has come to the conclusion and therefore holds that the allegations by the complainant that the respondent has contravened Article 284 of the 1992 Constitution by putting himself in a conflict of interest situation in relation to the issuance of the 5-year, 7-year, 10-year and 15-year bonds, have not been substantiated”

Mr. Gyamfi in April this year filed a petition at CHRAJ accusing the embattled Finance Minister and cousin of President Akufo-Addo for allegedly bringing himself into a conflict of interest in the raging 2.25 billion dollars Bond that was floated by the Ministry of Finance on the 31st of March, 2017.
