17th Session of the Executive Committee of UCLG Africa in Grand-Bassam

The official opening ceremony of the meeting will be chaired by His Excellency, Mr. Sidiki Diakité, Hon. Minister of Home Affairs of Ivory Coast.

ABIDJAN, Ivory Coast, November 22, 2017/ — UCLG Africa (http://AfriqueLocale.org) will hold the 17^th session of its Executive Committee on November 24, 2017 at the Afriland Hotel, Grand-Bassam (Ivory Coast). The meeting is organized with the support of the Assembly of Regions and Districts of Côte d’Ivoire (ARDCI) and the [ads1]Union of Cities and Local Governments of Côte d’Ivoire (UVICOCI).

The official opening ceremony of the meeting will be chaired by His Excellency, Mr. Sidiki Diakité, Hon. Minister of Home Affairs of Ivory Coast.

Other expected dignitaries include:

The President of UCLG, Mr. Mpho Parks Tau, in his capacity as the Vice-President of UCLG Africa for the Southern Africa Region;
Mr. Cheikh Ahmed Baya, Vice-President of UCLG Africa for the Northern Africa Region;
Mr. Jeannot Ahoussou-Kouadio, President of ARDCI;
Mr. Gilbert Kone Kafana, President of UVICOCI;
Mr. Georges Phillipe Ezaley, Mayor of Grand–Bassam Local Government.

The meeting of the governing bodies will address the financial matters of the organization, notably the adoption of the budget for the 2018 financial year.

As a prelude to the Executive Committee, UCLG Africa’s Financial Management Committee will meet on the morning of November 24^th and the Pan-African Council of UCLG Africa will be held on November 25^th. The Pan African Council is the supervisory body that oversees the implementation of UCLG Africa’s policies prior to its general assembly meetings, which are held every 3 years. The next meeting of the UCLG Africa General Assembly is scheduled to take place in December 2018.

Following these meetings, the delegation of the elected officials of UCLG Africa will take part in the first Africa-Europe Forum of Local and Regional Governments, which will take place on November 27, in Abidjan (http://APO.af/huW8Zi).

The national and international press are invited to cover the opening ceremony scheduled for Friday November 24, 2017 at 02.30 pm, and the closing press conference on Saturday November 25, 2017 at 01.00 pm, at Afriland Hotel, Grand-Bassam.
